SINOPSIS
Anatomy of a memory arises from the shared desire of Alice, Ilaria, and Edoardo to delve into their family memories.
Anatomy, from the Greek ἀνατομή-dissect, and Memory, from the Latin memoria-the faculty of remembering, intertwine to construct an intimate and sincere revelation that runs along the line of time. The chosen title evokes a cold body, methodically dissected in every part, which coexists with memory, an ephemeral but indispensable glue that observes reality through an opaque, liquid gaze. Indeed, memory recalls to the present something that is no longer here or is no longer now.
Not in its original form.
And yet, merely by returning to the heart
[or body],
it revives a concrete feeling,
a direct experience.
It is the possibility of consulting the past,
of questioning it,
of laying oneself down in it
again.
The word nourishes the performative space from the very first moments, where three intertwined bodies come together, (re)shape themselves, and fall, like their memories. In the process of growth and separation, they carry with them gestures, signs, dynamic images, and alliances, becoming a resonating chamber of an inherited memory, unconsciously absorbed. The audience also bears witness, experiencing a journey with the performers made of confessions, family secrets, and revelations. Memory thus becomes not just a place of nostalgia, but above all, a driving force, a project for the construction of a new world, a new system of affections, new "family" categories. Once again, the body finds itself at the center of a gentle, poetic, and perhaps at times painful, fragmented dissection.
At the intersection of performance, installation, and theater, the work of Alice, Edoardo, and Gary leverages the evocative power of imagery to open a temporal window onto their personal experiences, inviting the audience to immerse, reflect, and actively engage in the performative experience. The intimacy they create on stage is the result of precise work focused on a living, present body, open to encounters and clashes with the other; this results in an honest relationship with the audience, to whom the three performers offer their sincerity and vulnerability.
Their work aims to establish a space for dialogue, where different sensibilities and perspectives intertwine, giving rise to a performance that is at once visually, physically, and contemplatively impactful.
The theme of memory and relational dynamics is explored through a sensitive lens and a refined, minimalist aesthetic. The goal of their work is to create a moment and a space for reflection that continues beyond the performance itself.

BIOGRAPHY
Alice Pan, Edoardo Battaglia and Ilaria Bagarolo, aka Gary, met for the first time in 2023. After collaborating in various contexts and with international artists, they decided to develop a joint project, establishing a deep connection both artistically and personally from the start.
The three artists work in synergy, leveraging their individual talents in a multidisciplinary creative approach; Alice’s physical and choreographic approach is supported both by Edoardo’s expertise and experience in visual arts and Gary’s aesthetic and comprehensive vision.
From this collaboration arises Anatomy of a Memory, the trio’s debut work, which received a residency in the summer of 2024 at Studio Pro Arte in Freiburg, supported by the European fund Culture Moves Europe. This residency not only allowed the collective to develop a 50-minute performance but was also a crucial moment to fully focus on shaping the group’s artistic vision.
Anatomy of a Memory was recently selected for the Komm Tanz 2025 open call, a two-week residency at the Abbondanza/Bertoni Company, allowing the group to continue to work on the project.
