SYNOPSIS
Kaukokaipuu – towards an investigation into Being is a site-specific solo performance of dance, voice, and soundscapes created by a live set by sound designer Jacopo Cerolini. The Finnish term "Kaukokaipuu" expresses a nostalgia for places never visited, evoking a sense of belonging to unknown spaces. The work explores this tension between presence and fading, memory and landscape, drawing inspiration from G. Bateson's theories on the Ecology of Mind, according to which the mind is not an individual entity, but an interconnected system between the individual, the environment, and experience.
The body becomes a landscape, a place traversed by reverberations and refractions of sound and voice. Presence on stage resonates with an undefined desire, a yearning for something else, both in the physical and inner worlds. Between dance, sound, and landscape, Kaukokaipuu invites an expanded sensory experience, where identity dissolves into a broader ecological and poetic network.
