TO WHOM IT IS ADDRESSED
We are looking for choreographers, performers, and dancers who want to explore performativity into the durational performance, even in collaboration with sound artists or musicians. Both languages (sound and movement) can be experienced by the same person, or there can be two or more artists collaborating.
We are looking for projects that combine body and sound in live performances, allowing them to interact for a minimum duration of 3 hours.
The proposal can be new or have been previously presented.
In solo performances, the artist must be under 35. For collaborations and collectives, the presence of at least one artist under 35 is required.
WHERE
The venues are former military buildings within a historic and monumental park – a former military fort – now a venue for exhibitions and cultural events. It is 15 minutes from the historic centre of Venice.
Specifically the performance will take place inside an exhibition space.
THEME
Merging the performative vision of the body and the creation of sound towards a durational performance suggests including transformation as a theme, or rather as an ever-present condition of the live action. Duration acted out in live performance activates processes of transformation, using either the body or the sound as a tool.
The durational performance finds its dramaturgy in the performers' management, reactivity, and listening over time and through encounters with the unpredictable, both of the self and of any external agents.
By placing the body and live sound in the same temporal space, one witnesses the analogies between the choreographic and the musical world, their multiple forms of exchange and communication. Through duration, time confronts the performers with the necessity of transformation.
By transformation, we mean the process of change, whether subtle or manifest, desired or resisted. The performative essence leads to evolution, revolution, hold, repeat, overturn, and change.
We are looking for artistic languages and personalities eager to challenge themselves in the dimension of durational performance, prioritizing body and sound as forms of transformation.
The proposed project may present other themes, urges, and subjects without limitation. The main points of the call are body and live sound in a durational performance.
WHAT WE SEEK
We are looking for a project that can adapt to non-theatre spaces where body and sound are put together through a durational performance for 3 hours.
About the body, we seek presence and resistance in responding to the transformative process of duration. About the sound, preference will be given to music generated physically, thus analogically.
FEE
1.500€ gross plus support for travel costs to be considered. Food and accommodation from 13th to 15th of September is covered by the Festival in Forte Marghera.

SELECTION
The work will be selected by the Festival’s artistic director Marianna Andrigo and the sound artist Federico Dal Pozzo.
Marianna Andrigo is a dance artist and curator; since 2009, she has been collaborating with Aldo Aliprandi in the creation of performances that explore the relationship between sound and movement, also in durational performances. Since 2014, she has led the cultural planning of Live Arts Cultures and is the artistic director of Venere in Teatro.
Federico Dal Pozzo lives and works in Paris. A musician and Sound Artist, he creates sound performances where the concept of Time is stretched until it transforms into Space. His latest sound project, [o1 Temp], shared with French musician Paul Michel, investigates the expansion of Time and its loss. He is also a composer and sound designer for contemporary dance and circus companies across Europe, with whom he has performed in Europe and Ecuador.
